Microwave Positioning Sensor Systems
Using electromagnetic waves, our sensors measure piston position and velocity inside cylinders with mm-precision.
Making cylinders smart significantly enhances efficiency, comfort, and safety in our customers’ products and enables autonomy and automation in industrial systems.
Our sensor emits microwaves into the cylinder cavity.
These microwaves are reflected by the piston head.
Absolute piston position is calculated by analyzing phase measurements at different frequencies.
Components
Electronics: The electronics can be different shapes and sizes, depending on available space.
It is possible to integrate it inside the end cap or connect it externally (in combination with an X-Card) to allow replacement in the field.
X-Card: The X-Card is the connection between the external electronics and the internal antenna. The length varies with cylinder diameter.
Antenna: The antenna consists of a black insulator and a metal conductor. It is designed according to the diameter (independent of stroke length). The antenna is available in various shapes and sizes.
